Doctors in Kogi State are gearing up to start a strike today, over partial payment of their salaries.

The state has been paying only a part of their salaries, but the doctors want full payment, and have been directed by the Nigerian Medical Association to stay off work.

The association’s chairman, Godwin Tijani wants government to give a definite timeline for the full implementation of a new salary structure for doctors in the state civil service.
Last year, a strike by the doctors was suspended in June after the state government assured it will meet their demands.
